White Castle Hamburger Sliders

If you’re having a cookout, this is the perfect dish for you to bring. White Castle Sliders are simple to make, so tasty, and will be sure to impress everyone. They’re the perfect thing to bring to a big group picnic or to serve as an appetizer.  These delicious little burgers are huge crowd-pleasers, so if you have a game-day party, holiday BBQ, or just need to satisfy your fast food craving, this recipe is for you.

Tips & Tricks

Use a larger-width metal straw or tube to make the holes in the patties. These can be found at most craft stores. You can cover the meat with foil and then use a rolling pin to roll the meat out flat. This will help all the patties be the same thickness and size.If you’re unsure of how big to make your patties, just use the buns or rolls as a measuring unit. Then use a pizza slicer to make the indentations for size, and to slice the meat after it is cooked. You can also try spreading the soup mix and water on a griddle and then cooking your meat on top of this. This is similar to how White Castle cooks their burgers on a bed of onions.Instead of a soup mix, you can use dehydrated, chopped onions. Or saute some chopped onions and add them on top of the meat after a few minutes of cooking. You can use a food processor to make sure the onions are extra finely chopped. Some recipes use a tablespoon of peanut butter and a half cup of milk instead of water. This adds a great texture and a little punch of savory flavor. This recipe is the basic White Castle Slider, but feel free to add ketchup, pickles, and American cheese for a more classic cheeseburger style.

What Are the Ingredients in a White Castle Hamburger?

White Castle Hamburgers only require a few simple ingredients:  Ground Chuck: Obviously a good burger needs some good meat. 100% beef is the way to go. Plain Bread Crumbs: Bread crumbs help give the meat patties some depth and thickness. Egg: One egg will bring some moisture into the patty and help it all stick together while staying thin. Dry Onion Soup Mix: The O.G. White Castle slider calls for onions, and using a dry soup mix is the perfect way to get teeny tiny onions but a ton of flavor. Water: Again, you need just a little extra moisture, especially to combine the soup mix into the meat. Plus, water helps the meat to stay flat when you cook it. Black Pepper: You always need a little spice in your meat. Dinner Rolls: Dinner rolls are the perfect size for sliders. They’re thick and fluffy and simply make an ideal bun.

What Are the Best Buns for Sliders?

I use white dinner rolls for sliders. I love their soft texture, and they’re thick enough to hold in your burger patty. You can also find actual slider buns at most grocery stores if you prefer. Mini-buns will taste more like a regular burger, so this might be the most authentic option. Some people like to use sweet rolls as well, but I prefer a simple dinner roll.
