After all, kabobs are just grilled meat and veggies, but we like them better because they’re on a stick! Corn dogs are basically just hot dogs, but they’re so much more fun to eat. (The deep-fried breading may help a little, too.) Things just taste better – or are at least more enjoyable – when they’re on sticks, so get ready for fun and excitement because this list has 25 options for desserts on a stick.
1. Strawberry Shortcake Kabobs
As an avid lover of strawberry shortcake, it was hard for me to believe that someone had a way to improve it, and as far as taste goes, these kabobs aren’t an improvement. Don’t get me wrong; they taste fantastic, but it’s hard to improve on perfection, and that’s what strawberry shortcake is – perfection. Even so, it’s just a lot more fun to eat them this way – on skewers and drizzled with vanilla candy coating.
2. Fudgesicles
You can’t talk about desserts on sticks without adding at least one popsicle to the list, and these fudgesicles are well-loved by most. You can make them in just 10 minutes with only four ingredients: coconut milk, cocoa powder, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Just be sure you make them at least 4 hours before you want to eat them because they need to freeze for at least that long.
3. Homemade Popsicles
If you prefer your popsicles tart and fruity to sweet and chocolatey, use one of these recipes instead. You can choose from berry lemon, rainbow fruit, coconut lime, or berries ‘n cream. If you’re feeling super adventurous, you can opt for sneaky spinach instead. I won’t lie; it’s not my favorite on the list, but it’s not as bad as you might think, either. Plus, it looks super cool, so you may want to give it a try, especially if you need something unique and green for St. Paddy’s Day or Green Eggs and Ham day at your kid’s school.
4. Stained Glass Lollipops
Lollipops are another standard dessert on a stick, and these particular lollipops are unbelievably gorgeous. They’re almost too pretty to eat, but then again, they’re too tasty not to eat. And despite their gorgeous appearance, they’re straightforward to make, using only four ingredients – sugar, water, corn syrup, and your favorite extract – and neon gel food coloring. You can make more than a dozen in a half-hour or less.
5. Fruit Skewers
Not all desserts need chocolate, sugar, and other “unhealthy” ingredients. Simple slices of fruit are sweet, juicy, flavorful, and delectable. They’re the ideal dessert for those watching their weight. Use this recipe as-is, or pick your favorite fruits and berries instead. Don’t forget to make the spectacular four-ingredient dipping sauce to go with them, though. It makes them even better and isn’t too bad for you.
6. Grape Caterpillar Skewers
If you like the idea of fruit skewers for dessert but need something a bit more decorative, try these grape caterpillar skewers instead. Because they’re little more than grapes, they’re low-fat and low-calorie, but because you’ll add two dollops of frosting and mini chocolate chips to each one, they’re also stinking adorable! The frosting and chocolate chips act as eyes for the final grape on each skewer, turning your simple row of grapes into a very hungry tasty caterpillar!
7. Donut and Fruit Kabobs
Then again, if you like fruit but still need some decadence in your life, you might prefer these donut and fruit kabobs. You’ll stick your favorite fruits and berries on skewers. But in between every few pieces of fruit, you’ll also add an ample chunk of sugar, glaze-covered donut holes. It’s the best of both worlds!
8. Marshmallow Pops
If you’re looking for a dessert that’s similar to a cake pop but takes significantly less time to make, try these marshmallow pops instead. All you’ll need are large marshmallows, bittersweet chocolate chunks, lollipop sticks, and whatever decorations you like best. Best of all, you can make half a dozen in no more than 5 minutes.
9. Chocolate-Dipped Frozen Bananas
These chocolate-dipped frozen bananas are just as simple to make as the marshmallow pops, though you’ll need to freeze them for at least an hour before preparing them. Still, they’re a breeze to pull together. Simply stick your bananas on skewers and freeze them. Then, dip them in melted chocolate and decorate them.
10. Caramel Apples
Of all the divine desserts on sticks, there are none that I like better than caramel apples; they are the gold standard of stick-based desserts. Start with Granny Smith apples. (The recipe says you can use any apple you like, but don’t you dare! Granny Smiths are the only way to go.) Then, you’ll melt your caramels and add your heavy cream, heating and stirring them until you get one smooth, rich topping into which you’ll dip your apples. You can decorate them with chopped nuts or chocolate if you like, but I say why ruin something that’s already so flawless? These are sweet, tart, crunchy, and juicy. They don’t need anything else.
11. Chocolate-Covered Oreo Pops
Chocolate-covered Oreo pops are Oreos that you’ll spear on sticks, dip in candy melts, and decorate. They’re effortless to make and can be customized for any holiday or event.
12. Pancakes on a Stick
Pancakes are an almost universally loved breakfast food, but if you’re serving them for a large gathering, they can be messy, cumbersome, and really hold up the food line. Make miniature pancakes and put them on skewers with strawberries, bananas, and blueberries instead. They retain their tremendous pancake flavor, incorporate your favorite fruit toppings, and come with maple syrup dipping sauce on the side. What’s not to love?
13. Chocolate-Dipped Strawberry Skewers
Chocolate-covered strawberries are always a huge hit, no matter the occasion. These are extra special because they’re on skewers and decorated with an elegant white chocolate drizzle. This setup also makes them easier and much less messy to eat, so that’s another point in their favor.
14. Rice Krispies Pops
Rice Krispies treats are always a fun and tasty dessert, but they’re also sticky and prone to getting gunk all over your hands. Putting them on a skewer – or in this case, a cake pop stick – takes care of that problem. Plus, it makes it much easier to dip them in candy melts and sprinkles for extra yumminess.
15. S’mores Kabobs
These may look a bit weird, but they taste incredible – just like s’mores, except without all the heat and potential fire hazards! They’re not as melty or gooey, but they’re every bit as chocolatey, marshmallow fluffy, and graham cracker crunchy.
16. Banana Split Kabobs
The only thing these banana split kabobs are missing is the ice cream, but trust me when I tell you that they taste so mouthwateringly decadent that you’ll hardly even notice. You’ll make them in layers – strawberries, bananas, and pineapple slices – and you’ll coat each one in a generous drizzle of rich chocolate and salty, crunchy peanuts. If you’re a banana split aficionado, you’ll love them, despite their lack of ice cream.
17. Brownie Fruit Kabobs
If you prefer brownies to banana splits, make these easy-to-assemble kabobs instead. All you’ll need are brownies (homemade or store-bought), blueberries, strawberries, and marshmallows. Once you have the pieces added to your skewers, you can drizzle them in hot fudge sauce for a bit of extra yumminess.
18. Candy Kabobs
One of the things I love most about desserts – or any food – on sticks is that there’s no limit to what you can make with them! As long as it’s not something physically impossible to skewer (like ice cream or soup), you can make it work! These candy kabobs are a great example. You don’t have to cook anything to make these. Simply buy your favorite candies at the store and layer them on skewers, making them look as lovely and eye-catching as possible. People will be hella impressed by your ingenuity, but they’ll be the easiest desserts you’ve ever whipped up!
19. Cake Pops
Cake pops are always a great dessert on a stick option, but they’re even better when they’re copycat Starbucks birthday cake pops! They’re charming, fluffy in the middle, and have an adorable, sugary sweet coating that gives them a bit of crunch, as well.
20. Apple Pie Pops
These are spectacular, and they really do look (and taste!) like teeny tiny apple pies on sticks! Each one has a buttery, perfectly golden-brown, crispy crust. They all also feature baked apples with cinnamon and nutmeg. There’s more to them than that, of course, but if you’ve ever made an apple pie, you already know the ingredients. You’ll just be making them on a massively reduced scale.
21. Hot Chocolate on a Stick
Hot chocolate on a stick may sound impossible, but not only is it possible, it’s also fantastic. You’ll make it with heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and chocolate chips. It’s rich, decadent, and supremely fudgy, and you can decorate it and make it as pretty and as festive as you like. Adding things like sprinkles, crushed candy canes, mini marshmallows, etc., can also help tweak the flavor a bit to give you the precise dessert you’re craving.
22. Grilled Pineapple Kabobs with Honey and Lime
If you like to combine flavors, then you’ll love these sweet, tangy, and slightly smoky grilled pineapple kabobs. They’re exceedingly simple to make, requiring only five ingredients and less than 20 minutes to complete. They’re the perfect dessert (or even a side dish) at any summer cookout.
23. Crunchy Peanut Butter Pie Pops
Anyone who knows me knows that I rarely make an entire list of recipes without adding something that combines the two greats: peanut butter and chocolate. For this list, it’s the crunchy peanut butter pie pop. It features cream cheese, crunchy peanut butter, sugar, heavy cream, Biscoff cookies, dark chocolate, and chopped roasted peanuts. It’s Heaven on a stick, particularly if you skip the roasted peanuts and add a bit of sea salt for a garnish instead.
24. Mini-Cupcakes on a Stick
Cupcakes! On sticks! Have you ever seen anything more enchanting?! These are delightful, and they’re an excellent choice for practically any holiday or occasion. Simply bake, ice, and decorate your mini cupcakes as you usually would. Then, stick them on lollipop sticks with half a gumdrop underneath them to keep them from sliding off. Add a ribbon, stick them in a cute serving container or gift basket, and you’re all set!
25. Peppermint Bark White Chocolate Pretzels
Chocolate-covered pretzels are as popular with most people as chocolate-covered strawberries, but for this recipe, you’ll use oversized pretzel rods instead of mini twists. Dip them in melted white chocolate and cover them in broken candy canes. They’re a sweet, salty, and pepperminty treat that’s ideal for the holiday season. Click on a star to rate it!
